English

Our behaviour is for a large part determined by our assumptions. These assumptions make us think possible things are impossible, narrow our outlook on the world and withhold us from trying new things. It is possible to get unstuck by reframing our assumptions. When we change our thinking, we change our life.

Our assumptions are usually hidden from view. Most of the time, we have no idea why we do what we do. If we take the time to explore these assumptions, and question them, we can learn to try-out radically new ones and see where this leads us.

In this masterclass philosopher Karim Benammar will teach you the art of reframing. He will explain the method through examples, show how you can use it in your daily life and will give you powerful exercises that help you think differently. Through a rollercoaster ride of ideas he will show you how reframing helps you to innovate, to approach the world from a fresh perspective and to overcome engrained patterns. It allows you to develop strategies for dealing with your current challenges and shifts you from acting as a problem solver to enabling visionary change.

The speaker

Karim Benammar is a prominent Dutch philosophers. His method of reframing has inspired bankers, investors, technology leaders, teachers, civil servants, architects and foundations to change their assumptions and rethink their ways of working. Karim has worked at Kobe University in Kobe, Japan and as Director of Research Reflection on Action at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. He now works as an independent philosophical consultant. He has written about his method of reframing in Reframing – the art of thinking differently (2012).
