In this program, a collaboration between SustainaLab and Circl Movement, you will discover the crucial role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the transition to a circular economy.
Many companies are leveraging AI to achieve faster results and make processes more efficient. With the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, new possibilities are constantly emerging. What if AI could assist in recycling materials from old buildings? Or design products based on available materials?
Listen to engaging presentations from experts such as Professor Maarten Sukel from The AI Factory and Julia Krauwer, Sector Banker at ABN AMRO. They will share their insights on how AI is already making a difference and the opportunities it offers for the future.
The Societal Role of AI
“Those who understand AI will shape the future”, a statement by Maarten Sukel, the founder of The AI Factory and author of the book ‘The AI Revolution’. He earned his Ph.D. in multimodal machine learning at the University of Amsterdam.
From image recognition and predictive models to generative AI and text classification, artificial intelligence presents both our greatest opportunity and challenge of our time, especially in the fields of sustainability and circularity.
In December 2023, ABN AMRO published a report concluding that “generative AI can play a valuable role in the sustainability transition.” For instance, generative AI can aid in drafting sustainability reports and designing new proteins and materials.
What can you expect?
In this session, the speakers will provide an overview of the current state of development and make the future applications tangible by giving real world examples. We will conclude the session by exploring ways organizations can increase their positive impact with the help of AI.
Dr. Maarten Sukel will demonstrate how AI is transforming the world and what role humans play in the future of AI. He will showcase a number of practical AI applications and share his vision for the next steps in AI within circularity.
Julia Krauwer, Sector Banker for Technology, Media & Telecom at ABN AMRO, will present the key findings of the aforementioned report and highlight the role of AI in the circular economy across various sectors.
Jasper Spiegeler, founder of OMRT, will discuss the application of AI within his company. Using smart software, they rapidly develop thousands of designs for buildings and homes, considering factors such as wind, noise, costs, and the conservation of building materials, as well as low energy costs per building.
